Being a kid is all about being carefree and adventurous—we have to admit, we sometimes miss these days as we get older. That's why, when we spotted this little boy's camping-themed bedroom makeover on Apartment Therapy, we were instantly reminded of just how much we miss our childhood.

The bedroom was definitely a cute space from the start, but with decals and art projects hung randomly all over its white walls, it looked more like a messy schoolhouse than a cozy bedroom. Anna Sjöberg-Smith, a colleague of lifestyle expert Lia Griffith, wanted to transform the space into a room that suited her son's adventurous spirit. But she also wanted the room to grow older with him. The pair settled on a camping theme that will hit you with a serious wave of nostalgia.

The result? Instant charm. "For me, a well designed room includes lots of little details that come together to perfectly compliment one another," writes Lia, who designed the space. The bedroom makes use of bright color, subtle patterns, and hardwood floors for a bright and open feeling. But its true claim to fame is all in its accessories: Lia added fun details like a DIY felt moose head, a colorful banner, and a mini tent for this lucky little boy to lounge in.

Thanks to smart design decisions, the room looks young and fun now. But, as its owner grows older, the camping accessories can be removed and updated to fit his new interests. And when that time comes, we'll be waiting for him to send that adorable felt campfire our way. S'mores anyone?
